Details Objectives

*Provide awareness, knowledge and understanding of diversity and inclusion issues in youth work (how to be inclusive and non-discriminatory)

*Give tools for positive action regarding being open to and including different target groups (from different cultures, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, sexual orientation, abilities, educational level, ...)

* Discuss ways to deal with sensitive issues that might arrise in 'inclusion & diversity projects' (personal issues, group dynamics, risk management, ...)

* Present the potential of the European YOUTH Programme as a tool to work on inclusion & diversity

* Bring together people from a variety of backgrounds to make contact and potentially set up projects together in the future

Provisional Programme elements

The programme will be detailed by the team of trainers.

* 'Questions of identity': Who am I?
* 'Me, others, society': Which groups do I belong to, how am I influenced by groups in society?
* 'Difference & diversity': not everybody is the same - how can we value difference and work inclusively? How do we deal with stereoptypes and prejudice?
* Practical tools: methods to make your youth work more inclusive and non-discriminatory - the YOUTH Programme as a tool

What the course will NOT be:

Even though the YOUTH Programme will be introduced, and you will get to know colleagues from different countries, there will only be limited time to develop concrete projects together.
Costs € 50 participation costs payable on arrival. Your National Agency pays your travel costs (see this link for their contacts: http://europa.eu.int/comm/youth/program/natage_en.html). SALTO will be paying your accommodation and subsistence costs.
