I think that this is maybe good for our German Crew :):):) >>> CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: UN Anniversary Youth Video<<<

From: "Young People's Media Network"
Subject: CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: UN Anniversary Youth Video

Dear all,

please check out the announcement below. This is a chance to participate in
the making of a music video for the 60th Anniversary of the UN. The United
World Youth Orchestra will perform the song "Peanut vendor" which was
originally written in 1931 on Cuba - to check it out online, go to
http://xroads.virginia.edu/~UG03/Jukebox/popups/peanut.html.

Now - we need youth media groups who would like to do the visual part of the
video. There will soon be a choreography that you can get via email from us
(with dance steps, etc.) and we hope that groups from all over the world
will participate in this.

It is, of course, a non-profit adventure and nobody will get paid to do
this. But it's a great chance to get some experience in film-/video-making
and will be a lot of fun. And, should the video be a success (which we don't
doubt), then you might be able to see yourself on TV some time in the future
:-)

So, if you are interested, please drop me a message at cschuepp@unicef.org
and I will get back to you with more details.

Best,

Chris

United in sounds and images

The United World Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and the Young People's Media
Network are preparing a very special birthday present for the United
Nations. The young musicians will team up with teenage mediamakers from
around the world to produce a music video-clip to celebrate the 60th
Anniversary of the United Nations.

The music for the clip will be "The Peanut Vendor", composed in Havana/Cuba
in 1931. It became the first popular song in rhythm, song & dance out of
this region that made the Caribbean music attractive all over the world. The
song will be re-arranged by the most talented young music composers and
digitally recorded by the "United World Philharmonic Big Band, Strings and
Children-Choir".

The Young People's Media Network (YPMN) is a community of highly motivated
young media-makers from Europe & Central Asia, supported by the UNICEF
Regional Office for Central and Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of
Independent States. Together with the MAGIC network of youth-media partners
from all over the world, the YPMN will develop the visual content of the
clip - with film sequences from Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, South- and
North America and the Middle East.

The final cut of an exciting 3-minute version will be launched around the
world supported by the UN Public Information systems. We hope to finalize
the video in the mid of August 2005.

The United World Philharmonic Youth Orchestra promotes young extraordinarily
talented young musicians from all over the world. The Orchestra was founded
in Kyoto at the UN Convention on Climate Change in 1997. It also cooperates
with the United Nations Environment Programme and the UN Framework
Convention on Climate Change in the past.
